Paneer Matar Masala


In this Season, we get lot of fresh green peas at cheaper rate...!!
So i try to add fresh peas in whatever dish i could... :)

Ingredients:

  • Fresh green peas   - 1 cup
  • Paneer                  - 1 cup ( cubed)
  • Big Onion              - 2 ( chopped length wise)
  • Big onion               -1
  • Tomato                  - 2 (chopped finely)
  • Kasa kasa             - 1 tsp
  • Pattai                    - 1 inch piece
  • Jeera                     - 1 tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste -  1 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder    - 1/2 tsp
  • Chilli powder         - 1/2 tsp
  • Chicken Masala    - 1 tsp
  • Corriander powder  - 1 tsp
  • Garam masala       - 1 tsp
  • Corriander leaves   - few chopped

Method:

  1. If the paneer is bought from store, immerse the packet in hot water for 5 minutes, so that it becomes soft. Then cube the paneer.
  2. Heat a pan, add few drops of oil. Then fry the paneer cubes in the pan until slight brown. Keep the fried paneer aside.
  3. In a bowl of hot water, put the peas and allow it soak until it is half cooked or better pressure cook the peas for 1-2 whistle and keep it aside
  4. Grind 1 big onion, kasa kasa and pattai and keep it aside.
  5. In a kadai, heat oil. Add jeera. Once it splutters add the chopped onions and fry until golden brown.
  6. Add the ginger garlic paste and fry well. Add the chopped tomatoes and fry until tomatoes are cooked well
  7. Add the turmeric powder, garam masala, corriander powder, chilli powder, chicken masala and fry for 2 minutes
  8. Now add enough water to make a gravy lconsistency
  9. Cover tha pan with lid and allow it cook for 3-5 minutes
  10. Once it starts boiling, add the cooked peas and fried paneer cubes and mix well and cook by closing the lid. Allow it to for 5 minutes
  11. Now add the chopped coriander leaves and serve hot

Delicious panner matar masala is ready..This goes well with chapathi/Roti/ any pulav
